Chairs are sculptural pieces of furniture meant to be seen in the round. Comprised entirely of curved forms, the "Teaktonic Armchair" is an organic, yet spare design, carefully shaped to be a visual and tactile treat from every angle. The use of curves to transition between adjacent surfaces produces a fluid form in which each part appears to grow naturally from the other. These elements can be seen throughout the chair, but perhaps most conspicuously where the legs subtly extend outward and define the contoured plane of the seat. These design suggestions speak to our sense of touch as well. As a place where the hands might naturally rest, the armrest was shaped to both look and feel seamless. Shapely and well-polished surfaces invite the hand to trace its many contours, and explore its connection to the rest of the chair.
